Ordering of photographs

All properties sold through Lawyers Real Estate are photographed by a professional photographer.

When you list your property with Lawyers Real Estate we will immediately order your photographs over the internet through ABC Photosigns, Victoria's leading real estate photography and signage company.

Your order is placed with ABC Photosigns on-line, and an ABC photographer will contact you to arrange a mutually convenient photography session.

Professional photographers

We choose to use professional photographers instead of using clients' photos or taking our own, for a number of reasons:

The professional photographer is objective, and views the property from the viewer's perspective. For example, while the client may be proud of the canopy bed in the main bedroom, the photographer knows that showing off the room is more important that showing off the contents of the room.
The professional photographer is an artist, and will add those extra little touches to the scene being photographed. For example, the photographer will probably stuff the "Coonara" heater or the open fireplace with newspaper and set it alight so that the photograph shows a blazing fire.
New technology allows the professional photographer to invest in expensive equipment that is beyond the reach of the average person. Your photographer will use a professional quality digital camera to photograph your property. High resolution images (for printing on window cards) and low resolution images (for uploading to the internet) are prepared and uploaded onto the ABC website. We are contacted by email when the images are available.
Quick delivery and uploading of images is assured. Your photographer will photograph your property, return to the ABC office, and immediately upload the images to the ABC website. We will be contacted by email, and advised that the images are available for our use. We will arrange for the photographs to be used in your window card, and we will also download smaller versions of each image for use on your internet listing. Your window card will be ordered, and your internet listing will be uploaded, all in the shortest possible time and with the aid of digital and internet technology.

Use of photographs

While we do prefer to use the photographs taken by the ABC photographer, clients are able to provide digital photographs of their own if they wish to do so. We acknowledge that a photograph of a property taken in spring may be more attractive than a more recent photograph taken in winter.

However, we do remain mindful of the vendor's responsibility to ensure that photographs accurately depict the property. (Previously, estate agents have attracted criticism for air-brushing photographs to remove gas meters, electricity lines etc.) We will provide legal advice on such matters where appropriate.

Costs

The costs of photographic work associated with a standard sale of real estate are included in our fixed fee. Additional costs will be generated only at the direct request of the client.

Circumstances where additional costs may be applicable include:

Where the photographer is required to travel outside the Melbourne metropolitan area.
Where the client requires the taking of photographs at night.
Where the client requires the taking of further or fresh photographs, in addition to those taken as part of the standard photographic session.

The costs above are those charged by ABC Photosigns. We do not add any mark-up to the costs charged by ABC.

If you have any questions in relation to costs do not hesitate to contact us.
